Community Outings. Collaborations with community partners such as the Omaha Children's Museum and The Rose Theater provide fun activities for families with autistic children. One parent who attended a recent event at the Children's Museum told us this was the first time in six months they had been able to enjoy an evening out as an entire family—it's great to support families to help them enjoy experiences many of us take for granted.
Early Intervention. Years of research has shown that intensive early intervention services can help children with autism manage many of the social and communication challenges they face. We've been delighted to provide scholarships for the early intervention and severe behavior programs at the Munroe-Meyer Institute at UNMC. We've also been pleased to support the recent passage of LB482, offering needed Medicaid support for these services in Nebraska, which currently are not reimbursed by private health insurance.
"The dedicated staff at MMI wants our child to reach his full potential. They continually search for the way he can best learn. Their feedback to us has been constant and helpful. We also appreciate their willingness to work with the school and share information on effective techniques. The MMI program is a wonderful program that will help our son reach his full potential."

"Thank you for visiting with our occupational therapy class about individuals with autism. Your practical, honest and open discussion was refreshing. It was great for us to get out of the one-dimensional classroom and see what's going on in the real world."
